AG: One Fund Fraud Suspects Had Appointment To Test Drive Mercedes
BOSTON (CBS) – Two brothers have been indicted on charges that they attempted to defraud One Fund Boston of $2 million.
Branden Mattier, 22, who was previously charged, and his brother, Domunique Grice, 27, both of the South End, were indicted Thursday by a Suffolk County Grand Jury.
The brothers allegedly submitted a claim on behalf of their aunt, who had actually died ten years ago.
Each faces one count each of Conspiracy to Commit Larceny over $250, Attempt to Commit Larceny over $250, and Identity Fraud.
Along with news of the indictment, investigators released new details that said Mattier and Grice had scheduled an appointment to test drive a new Mercedes-Benz E350 the same day their check was scheduled to arrive.
Investigators also said evidence showed the brothers posed as family members of a bombing victim on multiple occasions.
They attended a private ceremonial closing of the memorial set up in Copley Square and attended a complimentary dinner at the Seaport Hotel for bombing victims and their families.
Mattier is currently being held on $20,000 cash bail.
No court date has been set for their arraignments.
