Adrian Wilson On Gresh & Zo: 'I Just Want An Opportunity To Win'
Andy Gresh chatted with new Patriots safety Adrian Wilson, just off the field after his first practice with the team.
Gresh asked Wilson, a veteran of 12 seasons, what enticed him to come to New England.
"I just want an opportunity to win and compete every year, and at the end of the day, that's what this organization does, is win," Wilson said. "And they're always in the hunt, so that's pretty much what really got me over here."
Wilson, 33, sounded like a true Patriot when he was asked what role he hopes to fill in the defense.
"I can't really tell you exactly what my role is going to be. I'm still out here in training camp just trying to find my niche. Whatever the coaches ask me to do, that's what I'm going to pretty much do," Wilson said. "Just win, man, and be successful. I don't really know exactly what that role is going to be. I can't really tell you one thing, I can't tell you another. Our job here is to learn as many positions as we can, and that's pretty much what everyone on our defense is trying to do right now."
As for his new head coach, Wilson said he's as good as advertised.
"He's a great head coach, a Hall of Fame head coach, so anything that he tells me to do, I'm going to do it," Wilson said of Bill Belichick. "We're just going in there as a unit and just trying to get better as a unit, and Coach Belichick is obviously the brains here, so I think everybody just buys into that."
