Adam Jones: Bruins Beaten By Hot Goaltender And An Even Hotter Goal Scorer
BOSTON (CBS) - The league-leading Boston Bruins are without question the hottest team in hockey with a 8-1-1- record in their last 10 games, but perhaps no team has given them as much trouble this season than the Detroit Red Wings.
The B's traveled to the Motor City Wednesday night looking to avenge a 6-1 drubbing at the hands of the Wings in late November, but one disallowed goal and a few third period lapses later the Bruins were handed their first road loss since March 1, and their first road loss in regulation since January 9.
With the loss, Boston fell to 1-3 against Detroit on the season.
Adam Jones was on the air following the game to talk to Dave Goucher and Bob Beers of the Bruins Radio Network about the loss, as well as a look toward the future with six games to go before the start of the postseason.

Stop me when you've heard this before (Chicago, Montreal), but the speed of Detroit proved problematic for the Bruins once again -- still an improvement though since their last meeting.
"Their speed, to a large extent, sometimes the Bruins have trouble with that. I got to be honest though, it was night and day from their last meeting back in November. It's been four and a half months. The Bruins are a much different team now, and so are the Red Wings with all their injuries. The Bruins tonight were beaten by a hot goaltender. Jimmy Howard was really good," said Goucher.
"A hot goaltender and a hot goal scorer. You've got to love the UMaine guys though," Beers added in reference to former Black Bears stars Jimmy Howard and Gustav Nyquist, who has 12 goals in his last 10 games.

Following his chat with Dave Goucher and Bob Beers, Jones provided three highlights and lowlights from the game in a segment we call "Plus/Minus."
Not a lot of positives to take away from Wednesday night's loss to the Red Wings in Detroit. Just looking up and down the box score there were a lot of minus players -- eight to be exact, including -2's from Andrej Meszaros and Patrice Bergeron.
But all was not lost, so let's start with the positives.
Plus
1. Johnny Boychuk's First Period Goal: "Boychuk had a great first period. He had the goal, and all four of his hits came in that period. He also blocked some shots and was second on the team in ice time. It was a nice feed from Brad Marchand behind the net to set Boychuk up for that goal, which gave the Bruins a 1-0 lead that they took into period number two."
2. Carl Soderberg's Power Play Goal: "Soderberg got his 16th goal of the season early on in the third period and it came on the man advantage on a nice give-and-go from Patrice Bergeron to put them up 2-1 after Detroit evened up the score in the second frame."
3. The Loss Could Prove Helpful: "The Bruins losing this game, in a weird way, could actually help them avoid facing Detroit in the postseason, which I don't think is an ideal matchup. The win for Detroit (7th seed) gives them a three point lead over Columbus (8th seed)."
Minus
1. Disappointing Third Period Stretch: "The B's had a couple of different mental lapses in the third period."
2. Torey Krug's Disallowed Goal: Zdeno Chara was called for contact against Red Wings goalie Jimmy Howard. "It certainly seemed like a phantom call by referee Chris Rooney. It was not a reviewable play. Maybe that's something the league can look at in the offseason.The Bruins would have been out on a 2-0 lead and that could have changed the whole game.An unfortunate call to go against the Bruins and their captain Zdeno Chara."
3. Jarome Iginla Sits Out: "Not a big deal but something to keep an eye on. He was scratched with a lower body injury. He dropped the gloves against [Zac] Rinaldo of Philadelphia over the weekend, so maybe he tweaked something when he threw down? Maybe the Bruins are just saying lower body injury so they can rest his legs? That's something to keep an eye on."
