Aaron Hernandez Remains Isolated In Jail
DARTMOUTH (CBS) - It is not a pleasant life inside the Bristol County House of Corrections, and for Aaron Hernandez, it is especially isolating.
"You can imagine having lived in a 7100 square foot home as Aaron Hernandez did, walking into this cell which is about 70 square feet, it's a pretty difficult transition," says Bristol County Sheriff Tom Hodgson.
To some inmates, Hernandez may be a target.
"We are assessing how the inmates are reacting to him right now in this smaller unit," says Sheriff Hodgson who is known for running a no frills jail.
Hernandez gets to exercise for one hour a day in a cage.
"I think he'd like to be out in general population playing basketball," Sheriff Hodsgon says.
Currently, the former Patriots tight end is in a cell block with eight cells that are 7x10. Inside the cell is a toilet and sink, a metal bed with a thin mattress and a slice of an open window.
He is alone in the cell for 21 hours a day.
Hernandez is charged with murder in the killing of 27-year-old Odin Lloyd of Boston and has pleaded not guilty.
