More snow means the spring sports schedule at Fitchburg State is a mess. The softball team there changed up its schedule a bit Thursday afternoon, playing early in the hopes they'll squeeze in a double-header against Keene State before the snow comes.

Travis Farley, the operations manager for the school's athletic department, has had his hands full.
"It's been a little hectic," he explained, since the weather just won't cooperate. "It's still winter. Just when you think you're though it all, it sucks you right back in."
Employees over at Fitchburg's Department of Public Works meantime spent the day on a ritual they thought they could abandon for a few months - getting ready to plow.
The crews here were in spring mode, but they have to switch back into winter - and that includes putting all the plows back on their equipment.
"We've been sweeping streets and sweeping sidewalks and doing the catch basins and everything," said 16-year DPW veteran Craig Leger. "And now we have to go back and sand and plow streets."
Once the plow blades are back on, the trucks filled with sand, and the vehicles lined up, they wait for what everyone hopes will be the last time this season.
