A Snowflake Here, A Snowflake There

Our first chance of snow comes tonight.

Then, our eyes will focus on a more robust, although not monumental, storm on Saturday.

Today will start on a sunny, yet chilly note as you wrap yourself up with all of the layers and winter attire.  Clouds will be increasing this afternoon ahead of a 'Clipper-Like' system.  Highs will be in the upper 20s to lower 30s.

Watch Melissa Mack's forecast:

# 1:

Light snow will develop this evening and come to a halt around rush hour on Friday morning.   When you wake-up and peek out the front window, you'll have 1-3" of snow on the ground.

So, we will be tossing salt on our sidewalks and walkways and sweeping or shoveling the light snow in the morning.  Then, Friday will turn out to be a sunny day with highs in the lower 30s. It is going to be breezy as well.

# 2

Models are coming closer to an agreement for Saturday's forecast.

This will be an approximately 12 hour event, about 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

It appears that the precipitation will start as snow for nearly everyone with the exception of the Islands.

Then, a mix will occur for areas south of the Pike as we approach Saturday afternoon and evening.

At that point, the system will be offshore and exiting the region.

This is going to be a storm that will rely on 'nowcasting' in terms of the rain/snow line.  QPF values are between .40-.60" liquid.

Consequently, the current track could create a 3-6 inches of snowfall for the Mass Pike to points north, including northern Massachusetts and far southern New Hampshire.

It could produce 1-3 inches of snowfall for Boston to Plymouth and Bristol Counties.

Then, a coating to 2 inches for the Cape/Islands.  Allow me to reiterate that this is an ongoing forecast and is subject to fine-tuning, to tweaking, and to changing. :)

Pats' Game Sunday:

It will be a great day for some FOOTBALL!

Sky cover will be partly cloudy to partly sunny with highs in the middle 30s.

So, kick-off at 3 p.m. at Gillette Stadium will be dry, and temps will be in the middle 30s.  At game's end, temps will be in the lower 30s. GO PATS! :)

Another mild spell is expected early next week.  The roller coaster ride continues.

Melissa :)
