A Mother's Day Treat...

We head into Mother's Day weekend with showers hanging over our heads but it's not all bad.  Recent model runs have provided a more optimistic outlook for the weekend and for early next week with an offshore storm stalling in our coastal waters but a little farther out.  This would mean less chill and less wet...especially Sunday and beyond!

We will still be squeezed by an upper level trough and a surface low tomorrow and that will mean, like yesterday, numerous showers bubbling up in the unstable airmass.  These showers will have some height to them and may produce some drenching rain underneath their cores.  Along with the downpours briefly gusty wind and some very small hail will be possible.  I do expect that between each cluster of showers will be short intervals of sun...highs will reach the mid and upper 60s.

The trough will lift out but the surface low will stay fairly close by just off our coast.  It will stay close enough to throw a little moisture our way and cooler temps for the coast.  So at this point we are going to take a more optimistic route now...partly sunny with a chance of brief showers.

FYI:  Three SKYWARN Training classes are coming up on Saturday and Monday. The complete schedule can be seen at the following link.

Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms....
