A Lovely Labor Day Weekend

High pressure is settling in for a beautiful stretch of summer weather as we head into Labor Day weekend.

Today will be sunny, breezy, and warmer as thermometers climb into the middle 80s. Friday will be even warmer as highs approach the lower and middle 90s.  This will be near the record highs of 97F 1953 in Boston...93F 1953 in Worcester...96F 1953 in Providence.  On Friday night, a moisture starved cold front will move through which will switch the wind direction.  This will supply us with a more seasonable holiday weekend in terms of temperatures.

Labor Day weekend will be a beautiful 'last summer hurrah'.  Many of us consider Labor Day the 'unofficial end to summer'.  Saturday will be another very nice day with highs around 80F.  Sunday will be cooler with highs in the upper 70s...lower to middle 70s for the coast due to onshore winds.  The latest NAM model is showing a 500H trough slipping into New England which could induce dirunal clouds and possibly a brief shower. We shall see.  Labor Day will be dry as well with more clouds rolling in late in the day.  Long-range  models are depicting the remnants of Isaac nearing Southern New England.  One of these models has rain around from Monday night through Tuesday, while the other shows the rain moving in from west to east on Tuesday and lingering into the middle part of the week. We will be watching Isaac's track closely.

Tropical Update: Isaac remains a tropical storm but is expected to continue weakening. Isaac should become a tropical depression later today. T.S. Kirk is in the mid-Atlantic, and it's path will keep it far east of Bermuda as it steers away from the East Coast.

One Alarm Clock Away...
