A cold front will move into the area late-day Thursday which will induce showers and strorms.

Watch Melissa's forecast:

The potential for some strong storms does exist depending on how much cloud cover we have earlier in the day.

In the wake of the front, Friday will be a gorgeous, sun-filled day with high temperatures flirting with 80F.

All eyes are on Hurricane Irene.

As of 5am Tuesday, Irene has maintained a CAT 2 status with max. sustained winds at 100mph and moving at approximately 12 mph towards the WNW.

The current model analysis shows Irene affecting us Sunday into early Monday morning.

We can expect very heavy rain and potentially damaging winds as high as Tropical Storm/Hurricane stregnth.

The GFSx gives Irene a similar track to Hurricane Bob back on August 19, 1991.

This would take the eye of the Hurricane through central and eastern Massachusetts on Sunday night.

The EURO shows a more westerly track taking the eye of the storm through Philadelphia and near the New York-Mass. border.

The GEM model shows the eye of the storm passing near Nantcuket and veering towards the northeast from that point.

We are still 5-to-6 days out, so we will continue to fine tune and tweak this track and forecast.
