9/11 Pilot John Ogonowski Inducted Into UMass-Lowell Veterans Hall Of Fame
LOWELL, Mass. (AP) — Capt. John Ogonowski, the pilot of one of the planes that was flown into the World Trade Center towers during the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, is one of 10 alumni veterans being honored by the University of Massachusetts-Lowell.

Ogonowski is scheduled to be honored during a flag-raising ceremony Thursday for the alumni being inducted into the university's Veterans Hall of Fame.
Ogonowski was a Dracut native who graduated from UMass-Lowell in 1972.
He was commissioned as a U.S. Air Force second lieutenant and served during the Vietnam War before becoming a commercial airline pilot.
He was the pilot of American Airlines Flight 11 on 9/11 that took off from Boston.
UMass-Lowell Chancellor Marty Meehan, U.S. Rep. Niki Tsongas as well as members of Ogonowski's family are scheduled to attend.
