9,000 Take Part In Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk
BOSTON (CBS) - It was a different kind of marathon taking place along the 26.2-mile route from Hopkinton to Boston on Sunday.
Thousands of people walked the marathon route for a very good cause.
Around 9,000 cancer patients, survivors and family members took part in the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk raising money for cancer care and research at Dana Farber.
"We're hoping to raise 7 and a half million. We are cautiously optimistic we are on goal," said Ann Beach, the Walk director.

Karen Kelly of Framingham was diagnosed with cancer in 2008, when she was only 35.
"It's stage 4 breast cancer. It's not a pretty prognosis," said Kelly.
Kelly said she's not going to give in to the disease.
"I have had an attitude of this is not gonna bring me down. I have a 10-year-old daughter. I have to show her that through thick and thin, we're strong women. We can do what we need to do and fight through it," said Kelly.
Kelly is hoping some of the money raised will go towards clinical trials that could help her and others beat their cancer.
