It happened just before 8:30 a.m. on Mascot Street.
Dep. Fire Chief Robert Dunderdale told WBZ NewsRadio 1030 the boy backed the BMW 328i out from his driveway "at about 30 miles an hour," went between two parked cars, drove through a hedge and then slammed into the front porch of the house across the street.
"We looked and measured. It was a tight fit (between the two parked cars). He ripped off his rear-view mirror. That's how close it was," said Dunderdale.
The mom told police that her son started the car and put it in reverse.
A neighbor removed boy from the car and he was back home when fire, police and EMS arrived, officials said.
The boy was not seriously hurt.
"He was very upset. I don't think there was any bodily harm, but EMS went over to talk to him," said Dunderdale.
The car displaced a stone foundation so the technical rescue team had to install columns in the basement to stabilize the house before the car was towed out.
The building inspector was also called in.
Inspectional services told WBZ-TV that the house was shored up enough so the family could continue staying there.
