7 Injured In Foxboro Adult School Van Crash

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) -- Seven people have been injured, one seriously, after a van carrying adult students and staff members from a special needs school crashed into a utility pole in Foxborough.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash just before 1 p.m. Friday on Route 140. A staff member riding in the van was partially ejected and trapped for about 40 minutes with a serious leg injury. Rescuers had to contend with downed electrical wires that sparked small fires.

The driver and five students were evaluated for minor injuries at local hospitals and released. The van was from Amego, Inc., a private school in Attleboro that serves autistic people. Its director, John Randall, tells The Sun Chronicle of Attleboro the group was on a recreational trip.
