Prosecutor: Tipster Claiming Juror Misled Court Wrote Sexual Letters To Aaron Hernandez
FALL RIVER (CBS/AP) — A Massachusetts prosecutor says an anonymous tipster who raised questions about a juror in the murder trial of former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez had a sexually explicit relationship with him.
Prosecutor William McCauley says in a filing released Monday that an attempt by Hernandez's lawyer to question the woman under oath is an "unwarranted fishing expedition."
The woman's identity has been redacted in court documents. In court documents she is referred to by pseudonym "Katy."
Hernandez's lawyer says she called him anonymously after his murder conviction in April and claimed wrongdoing by the juror.
McCauley says the woman wrote Hernandez sexually explicit letters before and during the trial.
"It was a relationship that 'Katy,' based on her uninformed belief in the defendant's innocence, hoped would continue after the defendant's release," the document states.
The document also states that her father served time in jail with Hernandez.
McCauley says in the filing that she does not work with the juror as she claimed, and her claims should not be taken seriously.
Hernandez is serving a life sentence without parole.
