5-Alarm Fire Forces Evacuations In Franklin
FRANKLIN (CBS/AP) - A five-alarm fire in a vacant building forced the evacuation of several homes in Franklin early Friday morning.
The fire department says no one was hurt in the fire, which started at about 2:30 a.m. in a large building near the center of town.

Officials say it was an old Masonic Temple that was abandoned years ago.
Up to 100 firefighters from 12 different towns were called in to put it out.

Several homes in the neighborhood were evacuated as a precaution and many local streets, including a busy section of Route 140, were closed to traffic.
A group of college students are being praised for helping alert several neighbors to the fire.
There's no word yet on a cause.
