4th Of July Weather Forecast: No Major Concerns

BOSTON (CBS) - There are a few minor tweaks to the 4th of July forecast but no major weather issues are expected this weekend.

We have been advertising the potential "fly in the ointment" being a storm system to our south on Saturday.

It now appears as though that storm will come just close enough to throw a shield of high clouds over most of southern New England.

All the rainfall will stay over the ocean, well south of our area. So it won't exactly be a beach day, in fact it will feel more like May than July, but overall, it will be very comfortable.

Here are the holiday weekend forecast details:

FRIDAY

A beauty. Lots of sunshine, comfy, dry air, as close to perfect as you can get in early July. High temps will be near or slightly above 80 just inland, closer to the mid 70's along the coast.

SATURDAY

Thickening high clouds from that storm well to our south.  At times the clouds will just filter the sunshine, other times it may be downright cloudy. No rain. High temps inland will range from 75-to-80. Temperatures will be 70-75 in Boston in the afternoon, dropping to 67-71 late in the evening. Light winds, very comfortable.

SUNDAY

Mainly sunny and warmer, a better beach day. Highs in the mid 80's with just some very light and gentle local sea breezes.

And for those lucky enough to have an extended vacation, next week looks pretty quiet, no major weather problems. Highs early in the week should reach the mid-to-upper 80's with some increasing humidity.

Have a safe and happy holiday!
