54,000 Fans Attend Free Open House At Fenway Park

BOSTON (CBS) - Usually you have to pay scalper prices or know someone to get the best seat in the house at Fenway Park.

On Thursday, however, fans had the opportunity to get into Fenway absolutely free on the eve of the park's 100th anniversary. An estimated 54,000 people toured the park Thursday.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Mark Katic talked to fans before they went inside.

The fans had access to the park like never before. They were allowed to walk on the field, through the clubhouse, into the press box and across the pavilion. Some even got a peek inside the Green Monster.

Besides touring Fenway, fans also were able to meet and grab autographs from some former team greats like Oil Can Boyd and Luis Tiant and current stars like Dustin Pedroia.

The team held the open house from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
