4-Ton Buddha Statue On Display In Abington
ABINGTON (CBS) – It has traveled all over the world, but for the next four weeks a giant Buddha statue will call Abington home.
The four-ton Jade Buddha for Universal Peace on busy Chestnut Street will be on display through June 28.
Ven. Thich Thien Hue, the statue's host, told WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Karen Twomey that a couple hundred people visited it during the unveiling on May 21.
The tour began January 22 in Miami, Florida. This is the last stop before the statue will settle in permanently in Australia.
The statue, carved out of an 18-ton jade boulder, was created to advocate the goodness of humankind.
