City Wants Nightclub Shut Down After Shooting
BOSTON (CBS) – Four people were shot outside a nightclub in the Theater District early Friday morning.
It happened around 2 a.m. near 'Venu' on Warrenton Street.
In a letter to Venu's general manager, Tommy Montgomery, the Licensing Board asked him to "voluntarily and temporarily cease all operations" until the Boston Police concludes its investigation.
Montgomery says the club will be open Friday night as planned.
WBZ-TV's Jonathan Elias reports
"The information that we have at this point in time is that the shooting occurred outside, but the victims were all inside the club, so it happened as they were exiting," Police Commissioner Ed Davis told WBZ NewsRadio 1030.
Davis said all four victims were "transported to area hospitals and luckily no one is in life-threatening condition as far as the wounds are concerned."
Their ages are 23, 25, 31 and 33.
"We also have recovered a firearm from the area that we believe is involved. We're running ballistic tests on that today."
Mikayla Alford, 21, of Brockton was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm shortly after the shooting. Police do not believe the arrest is connected to the shooting.
"This is a troubled location," Davis said.
"We've had a lot of difficulty with that particular bar. We're going to be looking at that very closely today."
