4 Fall Styles To Add To Your Closet Now

Fall is just around the corner, which means outdoor colors pop and fashionable layers that protect you from the crisp, cool air. Taking advantage of Labor Day sales is a great budget-friendly way to stock up your wardrobe with this season’s fashion trends. From warm and cozy to sleek and chic, here are four fall styles to add to your closet before autumn officially arrives.

Bigger the Better, Sweater

Oversized sweaters offer several cozy chic ways to block out the chill. Basic crew necks and cables look great alone, or layered over a crisp button-down shirt. You can wear them with leggings, slouchy pants, cuffed or tapered jeans or just about any length skirt. For warmer fall days, wear a coordinating tee under a big sweater with your favorite shorts and sneakers. Adding a scarf or hat can infuse texture and color. Strappy heels go nicely with long skirts or a pair of comfy loafers or lace-up boots blend beautifully with a variety of combinations.

Pretty Plaid

Nothing says fall like cozy plaid flannel shirts. You can layer them up by wearing them under a bulky fisherman sweater or tied around your waist with jeans and a crew neck tee. Wearing a lace-cuffed shirt underneath an oversized plaid button up adds feminine flair. Plaid flannels can be worn tucked in or out of your favorite jeans for casual comfort and a coordinating turtleneck adds extra warmth. This classic fall fashion staple can also be worn as a belted dress or under a faux fur vest to glam it up.

Mix and Match Black

Look at the figure-slimming color that goes with everything in a new way this fall by mixing and matching black separates in a variety of textures and patterns. Pair black leather pants with a chunky or floppy black sweater or herringbone blazer. Put black pinstriped trousers together with a black silk blouse or wear a short black leather jacket over a top and flouncy skirt. Wearing shirts with exaggerated sleeves or sharp cuffs, or pieces with eye-catching ruffles or patterns will spice up any ensemble. Add black heels, pumps, ankle or combat boots to finish off your desired look.

Eye-Catching Outerwear

Stay fashionably warm and dry this fall by adding the right outerwear to your wardrobe. Bright yellow raincoats compliment any ensemble. Long or short shearlings are pretty and popular and (real or faux) fur accents on collars or cuffs add a dramatic flair to a coat or jacket. Wool pea coats in solid colors or plaids are an outerwear staple that dresses up a variety of looks. Suede jackets pair nicely with trousers, chinos and jeans and a lined, long trench coat is a sleek, classic companion to a suit, dress or other business attire. You can coordinate all sorts of boots from ankle, to lace-up high top, to knee-high and fur-lined with a wide range of outerwear to shift your look from casual to chic and keep your feet toasty on crisp autumn strolls.
