3 Shot, 1 Killed Near Busy Community Center
MISSION HILL (CBS) – One young man is dead and two others were wounded in a shooting in Mission Hill Wednesday night.
Police say the three men were shot near Parker and Tremont Street. A restaurant manager told WBZ-TV's Mike LaCrosse she heard three gunshots before just 8:00 p.m.
Boston Police Commissioner Bill Evans says his officers were already in the area for a disturbance call at the Tobin Community Center, when they also heard the gunfire. All three victims are males in their late teens.
"One of the victims was found here on Parker Street, he was taken to Boston Medical Center and unfortunately he was declared deceased," Commissioner Evans said.
Evans says the second teen was found injured outside the community center and the third teen was located on nearby Seawall Street.
He says it's unclear if the disturbance was a fight or related to the event inside, but is hoping people at the basketball game saw something.
"We had a lot of kids probably about 200 kids right after this happened and while it was going on who poured out of the community center so there very well could be a lot of witnesses," Evans said.
Officers are gathering evidence in the Mission Hill neighborhood.
"We're looking at cameras, we're doing line searches, we have dogs out there searching but we need the public's help," Evans said.
Northeastern University Police told students to avoid the area, but said there was no apparent connection to the school.
