3 Charlestown Men Face Gun Charges After Shooting, Chase In Somerville
SOMERVILLE (CBS) - Three men are under arrest after allegedly firing a gun on Gilman Street and leading police on a chase through the city Monday night.
Around 9 p.m., police received calls about shots being fired. Witnesses told officers they saw a white Subaru Legacy leaving the area with three or four men inside.
Another officer stopped at a red light near Temple and Broadway Streets saw the car speed by and activated the cruiser's lights.
After a pursuit, the officer caught up to the vehicle and found it empty, still running and in drive, resting against a curb at the corner of Leonard Street.
Police later found a 15-year-old from Charlestown hiding under a porch on Leonard Street.
Another suspect, identified as Alexis Gonzalez, 20, of Charlestown, was found in a garage on Walker Street.
With the help of the State Police K-9 unit, officers discovered Avis Medrano, 23, of Charlestown, under a porch on Powderhouse Boulevard.
Police say they recovered a loaded .22 caliber Ruger pistol on Walker Street and also found a magazine with ammunition and cash in the console of the suspects' car.
The three men were charged with carrying a firearm without a license, carrying ammunition without an FID card and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building.
All three were expected to be arraigned Tuesday.
Police are searching for a fourth suspect believed to have been involved in the shooting and chase.
Investigators have not said why the men fired the gun.
