3.74 Kilos Of Cocaine Found Inside Wheelchair At Logan Airport
BOSTON (CBS) – A 33-year-old man was arrested at Logan Airport after cocaine was found in the tires and frame of a wheelchair he was using for no apparent medical reason.
During an entry screening on Friday, customs officials "detected an anomaly" while X-raying the wheelchair used by Emmanuelli Rojas-Moraza of Carolina, Puerto Rico. Agents drilled a hole in one of the chair's tires and found the drugs. Troopers and federal agents disassembled the wheelchair and found more cocaine totaling 3.74 kilograms.
Rojas-Moraza was taken to the hospital because he was wearing a cast on one of his legs. His leg was X-rayed, and a doctor found no structural damage. The cast tested negative for narcotics, and he was given a walking cast as a precaution.
He was arraigned Monday on drug trafficking charges and held on $45,000 bail.
