2nd Suspect Nabbed In Stabbing Of Woman As She Walked Baby In Dorchester
BOSTON (CBS) - The Boston Police Fugitive Unit has arrested a second suspect in the Savin Hill stabbing this week of a young mother as she walked her baby in a stroller, the police said.
Police arrested Dequan Sparks, 19, in Quincy. Sparks faces a charge of assault with intent to murder. He is scheduled for arraignment in Dorchester District Court on Friday.
At about 4 p.m. Monday, officers were dispatched to the Savin Hill neighborhood of the city to respond to a reported stabbing, police said. When they arrived, officers observed Emergency Medical Services workers treating a female victim for multiple stab wounds.
The victim told the officers her baby's father had asked to meet in Savin Hill so he could give her a pair of shoes for their 8-month-old child. The victim said that as she walked down Bay Street with her child in a stroller, the child's father attacked her, then restrained her while his current girlfriend, Samia Jones, stabbed her.
Jones also has a child with Sparks, police said.
After the stabbing Monday, Boston Police detectives executed a search warrant at Jones' home and placed her under arrest. Police then obtained a warrant for Sparks.
Jones, 17, of Boston is also faces a charge of assault with intent to murder. She was arraigned in Dorchester District Court and held on 50,000 bail.
The stabbing victim remains in stable condition. Her baby was not injured in the incident.
