2nd Home Collapses On Plum Island; 3rd To Be Torn Down

The second home to come off its foundation on Annapolis Way succumbed to rising seas early Saturday morning.

On Friday, an oceanfront home collapsed under a barrage of waves and beach erosion.

No one was injured in either collapse.

Officials say in addition to those two homes, at least one other oceanfront home will be torn down on Saturday. Demolition crews began wrecking just after noon.

"It almost feels like a death. I know it's a little dramatic, but a lot of really happy times [happened here]," said Sharon Bresnahan, one of the homeowners.

A total of twelve homes in the area have lost their occupancy licenses because of the damage from this week's and previous storms.

A local state of emergency has been declared in the neighborhood. Parts of the beach and neighborhood have been temporarily declared off limits, and the National Guard is on scene assessing the damage.
