25-Year-Old Drives 120 MPH, Drunk, With Three Small Children In Car

RICHMOND, R.I. (AP) — Rhode Island State Police have charged a 25-year-old man they say was driving 120 miles an hour on the interstate with three small children.

Col. Steven G. O'Donnell, superintendent of the state police, said Tuesday troopers pulled Derek Greene over on I-95 South in Richmond at 9:10 p.m. Sunday and found children ages 2, 3 and 4 in the back seat. Police say the Richmond man smelled of alcohol and had bloodshot eyes. He was arrested and refused a Breathalyzer test.

Greene was charged with reckless driving and driving under the influence and given several traffic citations.

He was arraigned in District Court in South Kingstown and held as a probation violator. The children were turn over to their grandmother's custody. Child protective services have been contacted.
