2 Walpole Police Officers Injured Responding To House Fire
WALPOLE (CBS) -- Two Walpole police officers were injured at the scene of a house fire Sunday afternoon.
Emergency crews responded to a home on Norton Ave. shortly after 1p.m.
The officers -- identified by the department's police chief as Paul Lagoa and Michael Benner -- were hit by a fire hose that was set up to fight the fire.
According to police, one end of the hose got hung up on the fire engine creating tension and the hose to move. The hose knocked down a sign before hitting the officers.
"It seems like they hooked [the hose] on [to the hydrant], but when I came out the hose whipped and one of the guys, it flipped him up in the air and when he came down, he landed on his head," neighbor Pat Marino said.
Both officers were taken to Brigham and Women's Hospital and later released.
