2 Convicted For Roles In Fatal Boston Stabbing

BOSTON (AP) — Two people have been convicted for their roles in a fatal stabbing on the streets of Boston in 2012, including one who was 14 years old at the time.

Prosecutors say 23-year-old Tarayiah Hunt was convicted of second-degree murder and a 17-year-old boy was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the October 2012 slaying of 39-year-old Cherby LaJoie.

Authorities say they were both part of a group of youths who tried to rob LaJoie on a Dorchester street, then stabbed him 41 times when he resisted.

Both defendants were tied to the stabbing by video surveillance and blood DNA evidence.

The younger defendant, 14 at the time, was charged as an adult and prosecutors made his name public.

Both had been charged with first-degree murder.

Sentencing is scheduled for March 6.
