Rex Ryan: 'No Chance' At Well Wishes To Shaun Ellis In New England
BOSTON (CBS) - Over the weekend the New England Patriots made another move to help out on defense, and this one hurt the Jets. The Pats signed Jets defensive end Shaun Ellis to a one-year deal, reportedly worth $4 million with another $1 million in incentives.
Ellis spent his first 11 NFL seasons in New York as a strong edge rusher and gave the Patriots fits. Rex Ryan was not happy to lose one of his strongest players, and had some things to say about it.
"He's a great player, number one," said Ryan on Sunday. "The two years I've gotten to know him, I've really enjoyed him. Tough guy."

"I think I said before, there's no way I'm going to wish him well," Ryan continued. "There's no chance of that. I wish him to be healthy, but I don't want him to play well."

"I will say this, I'll warn some of their guys, be careful. You don't want to fight Shaun. He's one of the toughest guys I have ever been around."
Ellis was drafted 12th overall by Jets in 2000, the pick they received as compensation from New England when head coach Bill Belichick left for the Patriots.
