150 To Get Aid From Revere Tornado Relief Fund
REVERE (CBS) -- The Revere Tornado Relief Fund announced a timetable Monday for the distribution of a quarter of a million dollars to 150 applicants after this summer's devastating tornado.
The EF2 tornado on the morning of July 28 brought wind gusts of up to 120 mph and caused extensive damage in the area. A fundraising effort by Mayor Daniel Rizzo raised over a half million dollars for assistance that was not covered by the government or insurance.

On Dec. 15, Rizzo said his office will begin sending notifications to residents and businesses set to receive assistance. He said there were more than 170 applications for aid.
"Revere truly came together as a community and has helped raise significant funds to support this effort over the past five months," Rizzo said in a statement. "I am also deeply grateful to the over 700 residents and business that donated to the Fund."
Former Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone led a review of all the submitted claims, and money was awarded in accordance with the fund's guidelines.
"We are grateful to everyone who generously donated to the Revere Tornado Relief Fund, and we are honored to have played a role in allocating assistance across Revere's central business district and adjoining neighborhoods," Leone said in a statement. "We know that the amount of monies that we have at our disposal cannot begin to fully compensate people for their losses due to the tornado, but we are heartened to know that their burdens will be lightened during this holiday season."
