15-Year-Old Shot Multiple Times In Worcester

WORCESTER (CBS) - A 15-year-old boy was shot in Worcester on Wednesday night.

The shooting happened behind some apartment buildings on Sigourney Street at about 8:20 p.m.

Neighbors tell WBZ-TV's Beth Germano they heard several shots. When officers arrived they found the victim leaning on the side of a picnic table suffering from multiple gunshots.

He was conscious and alert when police arrived and was taken to a local hospital. He is expected to survive his injuries.

Witnesses tell police the victim was sitting on the picnic table when a gunman approached him from behind and started firing. The suspect ran from the scene.

The suspect is described as a male 17-20 years old, approximately 5'8" tall, wearing a sweatshirt, black pants and carrying a backpack. Police believe there may be a second suspect but they have little information about that person.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Worcester Police.
