The crate hoisted the 13,000-pound statue of the goddess Juno over the MFA and lowered it into the museum through a skylight.
The 13-foot tall statue was acquired from an estate in Brookline, where it stood for a century.
Moving it took a lot of planning.
The statue's head had to be removed before her body was wrapped up and placed in a protective cradle.
Juno is the largest classical sculpture in the United States and it will be on display starting next month.
Experts don't have an exact age, but said the statue dates back to the Roman Empire and probably stood outside a temple or civic building.
