13-Year-Old Among Two Arrested For Armed Robbery In Roxbury Park
BOSTON (CBS) – Boston police arrested two people over the weekend, including a 13-year-old boy, for allegedly robbing a man at knife-point and tying him up in a Roxbury park.
Police said that on Saturday at about 2:30 p.m. officers were called for a report of an armed robbery in the area of Jewish War Vets Drive, inside the Franklin Park Golf Course.
The victim told officers that he had dropped someone off at the nearby zoo and was taking his dog for a walk along a path near the golf course when he saw three people sitting on a bench in the area.
According to police, the man continued walking and the three men followed him, surrounded him, and pushed the man into the brush. That is when the suspects allegedly tied up the man's hands and feet before robbing him at knife-point and running from the scene.
Upon responding to the park, police found three men matching the descriptions of the suspects.
The three men ran when they saw police, but after a chase officers caught two people near the intersection of Washington and Boylston Streets in Jamaica Plain. A third suspect was not found.
Police arrested Rafael Motas-Pena, 21, and a 13-year-old boy, both from Dorchester. Both were arraigned Monday on assault with intent to murder, kidnapping and armed robbery charges.
Motas-Pena is being held on $50,000 bail. The 13-year-old, is being held on $10,000 bail.
Boston police said they are continuing to investigate additional armed robberies that took place last week in the area of Jamaica Pond.
