11-Year-Old Brockton Boy Shot In The Chest With Pellet Gun
BROCKTON (CBS) - A Brockton mother is wondering why someone would shoot her 11-year old son with a pellet gun.
"I just don't understand. He was just shooting hoops, " said Virginia Andrade.
Her son, Lazaro, was playing at a park near their home and Virginia was just steps away with her two younger children.
She heard a popping noise.
"It was like a car tire blowing out, it didn't sound like a gun," she said.
It was about 5:30 p.m., Sunday and she thought nothing more of it so the family walked two blocks home.
A short time later, her son said his throat hurt. Then, she noticed some blood on his shirt.
Virginia then looked at his chest, and saw he had a small hole in his chest.
Later, at a local hospital, x-rays showed a pellet or BB lodged in the outer lining of his lung.
"The doctors told us they didn't want to take it out, that it should be just fine where it is. But I can't believe someone would do that," she said.
Police tell WBZ NewsRadio 1030, they have no idea who shot the gun or what direction the pellet came from.
