WALPOLE (CBS) - A 24-year-old Norwood woman was killed in a rollover accident on I-95 in Walpole on Tuesday.
Check: Traffic Updates
The car, a 2009 Ford Focus, was traveling southbound on I-95 before crashing just before 2 p.m. The driver, Alison Irving, was pronounced dead at the scene and her passenger, 25-year-old Andrew Costello, also of Norwood, was seriously injured.
The passenger was ejected from the car during the crash and later air-lifted to Rhode Island Hospital.
Troopers said the car likely drove off the left edge of the roadway, and when the driver tried to steer the car back into the lane, the car went into a spin across the all lanes on the highway.
The car then hit a guardrail on the right side of the road and rolled onto its roof before coming to a rest.
For a time, crews had shut down the highway going south, diverting traffic at the Coney Street exit.
All lanes were opened on I-95 through that stretch after just after 4 p.m.
