1 dead, 2 hurt in Malden shootout
Police say one man was killed and two others were injured in a shootout in a Malden neighborhood that appears to be an attempted robbery.
Police tell the Malden Evening News they responded to Salem Street just after midnight on Tuesday and found two men, one on top of the other, in front of a home suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds. One man was dead and the other was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
A third man was found behind the home, also suffering from a gunshot wound. That man is believed to be a resident of the home and is licensed to own a gun. Police say he is expected to survive.
Police did not release names, but said as many as 10 or 11 shots were fired. Several weapons were recovered at the scene.
