Man Found Shot Dead At Dorchester House Fire
DORCHESTER (CBS) – A man was found shot dead at a fire in Dorchester late Tuesday morning.
Firefighters and police were called to a triple-decker on Harvard Street for a small fire in the first floor kitchen and a report of a person shot.
That's when a woman with a gash on her forehead, holding a baby, came outside screaming, a witness told WBZ NewsRadio 1030.
"A woman came running out indicating she had been shot and her husband was inside also on the first floor who had been shot," Police Commissioner William Evans told reporters.
The man was dead and the fire was put out.
"The female, she has what we believe to be an apparent minor gunshot wound. We can't confirm she's even shot at this time," Evans said.
She was taken to Brigham and Women's Hospital where police plan to speak to her.
Evans said the grandmother took the baby.
"The baby's obviously safe, which was our main concern," Evans said.
There was an initial report that three suspects had left the scene, but Evans said they can't confirm that at this time.
No other information is available at this point in the investigation.
