Zinno's 6-4-3: MLB Round-Up

The trade deadline is looming and the teams that are looking for some extra fuel for the post-season run will most certainly be working hard in the next 24 - 48 hours. Let's go!

Top 6 -
1. Cardinals - the only team in the bigs playing over .600 baseball. They still have the biggest run differential in the game.
2. Red Sox - they destroyed Oriole pitching in the final two games of their series and David Ortiz destroyed a phone in the dugout as well.
3. Rays - should anyone be surprised that they had sole possession of first over the weekend? Joel Maddon could be AL Manager of the Year, EVERY year!
4. Pirates - they lost their closer to the DL, but they are still right where they want to be. Can they hang on?
5. Athletics - this group of no-names and misfits continues to just amaze. They lead the AL West by six games.
6. Tigers - they have won seven of their last nine. Both losses belong to Justin Verlander.

4 Stats -
1. The Yankees shortstops have a total of three home runs all year long. Derek Jeter has one of them after he hit one in his first at-bat back since coming back from the DL, which was his 2nd game of the year.
2. Maybe the HR Derby jinx is a real thing. Chris Davis is without a HR since the All-Star Break. He's hitting .205 and has 20 strikeouts in 10 games.
3. If the playoffs started today, of the top 10 teams leading in quality starts this year, half of them would not be playoff teams.
4. Just a reminder how hard it is to hit .300 in Major League Baseball, only 2.5% of players in the game are currently doing it.

Bottom 3 -
1. Astros - they need 28 wins to avoid a 100-loss season. That's seven less than they currently have.
2. Marlins - they should just play the Mets all year. 8-3 (.727 winning percentage) against New York. 32-60 (.347 winning percentage) against everyone else.
3. White Sox - the only excitement around this team is who WON'T be playing for them come Thursday.
