West Virginia Man Killed In Car Crash In Western Maryland
CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) -- A West Virginia man has died following a car crash in western Maryland, an area hit over the last day by snow and heavy wind.
Maryland State Police say the collision happened just after 7 on Saturday morning on Fort Hill Ridge Road in Allegany County.
Police say the driver of a 2006 Chevrolet Impala lost control of his car, crossed over the center line and traveled into the opposite lane, where it collided with a Chevrolet Trailblazer.
The driver of the Impala, identified as 46-year-old Frederick Washington Jr., of Keyser, W.V., was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Trailblazer was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
State police say the snow emergency plan was in effect at the time of the collision.
