Wrestler From Md. Among 4 Killed In Ohio Plane Crash
CLEVELAND (WJZ) -- The NTSB is investigating a fiery crash in Ohio where a small plane went down, killing all four college students on board. One of them was an 18-year-old from Maryland with a promising future.
Christie Ileto has more on the accident that cut four lives short.
The sounds of sheer panic. Onlookers near a small Ohio airport were forced to watch a fiery plane trap four Case Western University students inside. The NTSB says the 20-year-old pilot reported having problems taking off and when he radioed to come back...
"He started a left turn and that's when he crashed," said Pam Sullivan, NTSB.
Investigators Tuesday confirm Abraham Pishevar from Rockville was a passenger, meeting a fate no 18-year-old should ever meet while riding in a small plane.
"It's beyond words. It's more than a tragedy," said Paul Butler.
Butler is a family friend and says Pishevar was starting his college career.
"I don't know how to describe the notion of what Abe must have gone through, what his parents must be thinking," Butler said.
He had just graduated from Georgetown Prep in North Bethesda, where the school held a prayer service earlier. His alma mater called him a man for others as he committed to several service projects.
"It's more than just nail up a few boards. Trips he made; sacrifices he made," said Butler.
Friends grieve on Twitter, saying, "You were always looking out for me" and "Rest in peace to an amazing human."
Pishevar and three others with bright futures grimly cut short with no explanation yet for family and friends.
Investigators will look at whether weight was an issue but say the plane did have four seats.
The NTSB says the 20-year-old pilot got his pilot's license about a year ago.
