Mid-Atlantic May See Heat Index Of 110
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Excessive heat warnings are in effect for the mid-Atlantic region with temperatures expected to feel like 110 degrees in the Baltimore-Washington area.
The National Weather Service says high temperatures are surpassing 100 degrees Saturday. The heat index will be around 110. That means there's a high risk for heat exhaustion or other illnesses for those outdoors or in places without air conditioning.
The heat warning includes cities from western Maryland to the Eastern Shore and all of Delaware until 10 p.m.
In Alexandria, Va., golfers began teeing off early at 6 a.m. to try to beat the heat. But Golfer Zeb Rogerson says it was still baking by the 18th hole. Golfer Tim Hutchenson says his advice is to take a cart and drink lots of water.
