World War II Memorial Adds New Technology At Site
WASHINGTON (AP) -- The National World War II Memorial in Washington is adding new technology to help connect with younger visitors to the site as the memorial reaches its 10-year anniversary.
Organizers say the memorial will be the first on the National Mall to have wireless Internet to support a mobile app being planned for the memorial. On Saturday, the memorial will debut new interactive kiosks with touch screens for visitors learn about the war.
New content will feature such groups as women who served during the war and the Tuskegee Airmen, a group of black pilots. Previously the memorial had kiosks with a searchable database to find veterans' names.
The American Battle Monuments Commission worked with technology developer INADEV to create new educational content, games and historical facts for the memorial.
