Worcester County Considering Minor-League Hockey Arena
SNOW HILL, Md. (AP) -- Worcester County officials are discussing the prospect of building a multipurpose arena that could host a minor-league hockey team.
Economic Development Director Bill Badger tells The Daily Times of Salisbury (http://tinyurl.com/nl3mmud ) that it's too early to say exactly where the arena would be located or how much it would cost.
A Texas-based consulting firm suggested the project to the county. Hat Trick Consultants conducted its own study that says a 6,200-seat arena would generate $7.5 million a year in revenue. The firm says the venue could host 125 events a year.
Hat Trick Consultants president Michael Barack says his firm has been in contact with several minor-league hockey teams about the prospect of moving to the area. Badger says the region has "enough concentration of population" to support a team.
