Women, Newborns Evacuated From Hospital Fire

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Fire officials say 13 women and their newborns were evacuated from a hospital after a three-alarm fire broke out in a utility closet.

Anne Arundel County Fire Division Chief Michael Cox says crews were called to Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis about 5:45 p.m. Monday. A smoky odor had been reported, and firefighters found heavy smoke coming from a utility closet on the third floor.

The women and their infants were evacuated. No one was injured.
