Woman & Young Boy Attacked By 2 Dogs
PASADENA, Md. (WJZ) -- Brutal attack. A 7-year-old boy was mauled by two bulldogs in Anne Arundel County. His aunt was injured trying to stop the attack.
Meghan McCorkell has more on the frantic calls for help.
That little boy remains in the hospital after he was attacked by two dogs as neighbors desperately pleaded for help.
You can hear the chaos in the 911 call as neighbors tried to help a woman and 7-year-old boy attacked by two large dogs.
"The dogs just attacked this woman. She's screaming bloody murder. There's blood everywhere," was part of the 911 call.
The attack happened at home on Barnesley Court in Pasadena Saturday. The boy was visiting his aunt when her boyfriend's two American bulldogs mauled him.
The woman lay in the fetal position on top of the boy but the attack continued as neighbors watched helplessly.
"We can't get to her because of the dogs," said the call.
Within minutes, a police officer arrived and shot one of the dogs as it attacked the woman and child. The second dog lunged and the officer shot it, too, ending the vicious mauling.
"This officer potentially averted a tragedy with his quick actions and it would be an understatement to say commendable. It was heroic," said Justin Mulcahy, Anne Arundel County Police.
Neighbors say a few years ago, those same two dogs attacked another dog on the street. The beagle was seriously injured but survived. Now neighbors are hoping and praying the 7-year-old boy will be OK.
The little boy has been upgraded from critical to fair condition. His aunt sustained minor injuries.
This is the second dog attack in Pasadena in just two weeks. The last one was right before Thanksgiving when a pit bull mauled an elderly woman, injuring her arm.
