Woman Thrown From Car Stuck On Maryland Railroad Tracks Dies
CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) -- Police have identified a Virginia woman who was killed when she was thrown from a vehicle stuck on railroad tracks in Maryland.
The Cumberland Times-News reports that 51-year-old Bernarda Bustamante of Alexandria, Virginia, died Saturday evening. Cumberland police say an investigation determined Bustamante's vehicle misjudged a turn and got stuck on the tracks.
Several people attempted to free the vehicle, which gained traction and traveled backward. Bustamante was ejected and thrown onto the road.
No foul play is suspected. Police say no criminal charges are expected.
Train traffic was stopped, with the intersection closed for more than an hour.
