Woman Shot By Officer Was Carrying Replica Gun
PIKESVILLE, Md. (AP) -- Baltimore County police say a woman shot by an officer was carrying a metallic replica of a large-caliber handgun.
The shooting occurred early Saturday morning outside a home in Pikesville. Police say they were called to the scene for a report of a suspicious person, and an officer saw the woman throw a rock at the house and break a window.
Police say the woman then pulled out the replica gun and refused several commands by the officer to drop it.
The officer shot her multiple times, and she's being treated at a hospital. Police say she's been charged in a warrant with first-degree assault and obstruction of justice. Police have also ordered an emergency mental health evaluation for her.
