Woman Reunited With Ring She Lost In Christmas Tree Lot
MILLERSVILLE, Md. (WJZ) —It could be coincidence or the spirit of the season, but the holidays often remind us of what's really important.
Kai Jackson reports that's the experience of a Glen Burnie woman who lost something valuable and now knows that Christmas has a special ring to it.
Shirley Grandey volunteers at the Norway Christmas tree lot in Millersville, selling trees to raise funds for the Anne Arundel County Alarmers.
"The Alarmers is an organization that's been in existences since 1958. And we actually go out and we feed the firefighters on a two-alarm fire or a police activity that's more than a couple hours long," Grandey said.
A few nights ago, Grandey found something in the lot they don't sell.
It was a diamond ring.
"We have a rake and I was raking it and something just started to shine, and I bent down and picked it up and it was a diamond ring," Grandey said.
And it was clear this ring likely had an owner who was desperately missing it.
"Definitely is a love ring uh, it's an intertwined ring so I would assume it meant something to somebody," Grandey said.
"We always come to get our tree from here," said Julie Sanalitro.
Sanalitro bought her Christmas tree from the Norway lot on Wednesday. But she left behind something far more valuable than the cash she paid for the tree.
"That night when I went home, I realized that usually my two rings click together. And I notice when I was laying in bed that they weren't so I was, you know, panicking a little bit," Sanalitro said.
Sanalitro searched her house but with no luck.
She even called the Norway lot but at that time no one had found it.
Then her phone rang, with great news about her ring.
"Shirley gave me a call and said that she had found it and so I raced right up here," Sanalitro said.
The ring was a gift from her boyfriend, Ryan.
"I was screaming and running around the house, and went and got this one," Sanalitro said.
"I came up and I called her and asked her a whole bunch of questions, and she answered the correct answers and I told her to come on up and get her ring," Grandey said.
In the spirit of giving, Grandey has returned a ring with great sentimental value to the owner, and Sanalitro has received a gift for a second time that you can't put a price on.
