Woman Pleads Guilty In November Car Crash
FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- A Walkersville woman has pleaded guilty to an alcohol offense in a November car crash that critically injured a Union Bridge resident.
Darlene Sweeney, 61, pleaded guilty on Monday in Frederick County Circuit Court to causing life threatening injuries while operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol. She will be sentenced June 20.
The state's attorney said Cheri Farinholt, who was thrown from the rear window of her car in the crash, has been permanently affected by the crash.
Police said the Nov. 23 crash occurred as Farinholt was stopped to turn left into a parking lot. Her car was hit from behind by a car driven by Sweeney. The impact pushed Farinholt's car into the path of a pickup truck in the southbound lane. Farinholt's car was then hit by another car.
