Woman Hits Man With Car, Says He Exposed Her To HIV
When an Arizona woman found out her boyfriend may have exposed her to HIV, authorities say she ran him over with her car.
Miraculously, the man survived the collision, which was caught on video by a neighbor's surveillance camera.
Meanwhile, the woman, identified by police as 44-year-old Misty Lee Wilke, faces attempted murder charges in connection to the April 29 episode.
Video shows the victim riding his bike down the street when a red Ford Mustang comes into frame. Then the Mustang suddenly accelerates and barrels into him head on. The impact sends him flipping through the air before he crashes to the pavement in a heap as the Mustang speeds away.
The man lies motionless next to his mangled bike until, moments later, he stirs and gets to his feet. He walks it off but then staggers sideways and falls over.
According to a police report obtained by The Smoking Gun, the victim was hospitalized afterward with a head injury requiring numerous staples and a fractured vertebrae. "The victim hit the windshield of (the suspect's) car, where hair, blood and scalp were located," the report said. "The paint from the victim's bike was also located on (the suspect's) car."
Wilke told investigators she had a sexual relationship with the victim, which soured when she found out he was HIV positive, according to the report. An argument between the couple over that revelation turned violent when she shoved him and he cut her with a pocket knife, she said. She acknowledged hitting someone with her car, but said it wasn't on purpose.
Wilke is charged with attempted second-degree murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and leaving the scene of a crash.
